Chinley End Farm
In 1711 Charles Wesley was entertained at Chinley End Farm, and was a regular visitor, preaching often at nearby Chapel Milton, for the area was a hotbed of early Nonconformism. But another major attraction for Wesley was that Grace Murray lived here, who is said to be the only woman Wesley loved, and would have wished to marry. But she later became the wife of Charles Bennet, another famous preacher.
Village Facilities and Transport
Chinley is a large busy village with many stone-built Victorian buildings, situated just on the western edge of the Peak District National Park. It is a good base for exploration of the western side of the Peak District and for walks up onto Kinder and its outlying hills.
The following are all in the village, no more than 5 mins walk away.
Chinley Stores (and off licence) - an amazing general food store with everything you need. Vegetables are at amazing prices that put Tesco's to shame. Home make cakes are a speciality. Open 7 am to 9 pm, 7-days a week.
